Hydrotherapy is an essential part of our clients’ lives, it provides a rare opportunity for freedom of movement out of their wheelchairs. The warm water helps painful joints and the water pressure helps to improve lung function which, in turn, reduces the chance of infections developing.
It helps reduce anxiety and young people are often calmer and more relaxed afterwards. For those who struggle to communicate - being in the water helps them to vocalise or move their arms to indicate preferences.
Overall it can therefore be much more effective and comfortable for our clients than standard physiotherapy. Our clients love these fun and relaxing times in the pool, which all helps to promote wellbeing.
