Sharing Our Vision for Communication Excellence
The article, published in this season’s edition, details our journey toward becoming a Centre of Excellence for Communication and outlines our plans to develop comprehensive resources for adult day centres and care settings across the country.
“Having our work recognised by PMLD Link Journal represents a significant milestone for us,” says Helen Broadfield, Client Care Development Manager at The Myriad Centre. “This publication allows us to share our vision with a wider audience of professionals dedicated to supporting individuals with PMLD.”
Transforming Communication Support
As highlighted in the journal, the funding from the Dr Carl Ellson Innovation Fund will enable The Myriad Centre to create practical frameworks focused on:
- Creating adaptive physical environments that naturally promote interaction
- Providing specialised training for care staff in communication strategies tailored specifically for adults with PMLD
- Developing innovative approaches to encourage engagement and build communication skills
“Communication is a fundamental right,” the article emphasises. “At Myriad, we believe that every person, regardless of ability, should have the tools and support to express themselves and connect with the world around them.”
